Today we are bringing you a family spun brunch wedding at The Engineer’s Club in Baltimore! The bride’s family combined their talent and creativity to organize this gorgeous celebration full of distinctive and personal handcrafted details. We can’t believe how beautifully the wedding cake and floral arrangements were, including bridesmaid’s bouquets and reception centerpieces made by the bride’s sister and mother. We loved how personal these included touches were, as they were from so close to the heart!

After getting ready at the Engineer’s Club, the couple headed to the historical Gothic-style church, Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, for a non-traditional “first look.” Instead of opting to see each other before the ceremony, the bride and groom exchanged letters and gifts from behind a curtain.

We loved the romantic ivy and chandelier dripped sweetheart table and pergola that the bride and groom were able to enjoy their reception under. Hand made accouterments and personal touches go a long way when designing your reception space! A very special thank you to Anna Schmidt Photo for sharing Brittany and Aaron’s beautiful Baltimore wedding with us!

From the Bride: Aaron and I were born and raised in Maryland and met at the University of Maryland in college. Although we are both currently in medical/graduate school in NYC, we knew as soon as we got engaged that we would be getting married in our home state. It took me a LONG time to get excited about having a winter wedding- but it was the only time I had a long enough break from school. It turned out being a dream! We wanted an elegant, brunch daytime wedding and are so glad we did- the light we got in our photos, the airy feel of the Atrium at the Engineer’s Club, and blush, silver, and gold details were everything I envisioned for my big day, no matter what the season was!

One of my favorite memories from that day was getting ready upstairs at the Engineer’s Club. It was so much fun- all my sisters, mom, and bridesmaids- we were all super excited, a little tired, and little nervous. I remember looking out the huge windows and seeing Aaron and his groomsmen lining up outside the church for pictures. I saw Aaron, how handsome he was, and got really emotional all of a sudden. I was really teary-eyed and my maid of honor immediately started blowing on my face to try to keep the makeup from running! We have a really cute picture of that. My maid of honor was seriously there for me in any and every way throughout this whole process- from planning to the big day.

Our main priorities for the wedding were the photography, videography, and decorations! We knew we wanted to make sure we really captured our day. I debated for a long time about whether a videographer would be worth it, but I was so glad I did. After all our hard work, we wanted to remember every beautiful moment and detail!

I owe my mom and sisters credit for almost every decoration at the wedding. My sister, Lindsey, loves to bake and has always dreamed of opening her own bakery. When we started looking at wedding cakes, she begged me to try to learn and I said sure. It turned out INCREDIBLE. She made a four-tier Hazelnut Mocha cake that was literally to die for!
My sisters and mom made every centerpiece, bouquet, boutonnière, and even corsage at the wedding! They spent a lot of time learning how to arrange flowers and they did a fabulous job. They incorporated all of my favorite colors- whites, blush, and especially my favorite rose, Juliet. My dad and I built the so-called “wedding hut” that we sat under at our reception! We bought the wood, stained it, and my mom helped us decorate it with fresh greenery, candles, and a chandelier before the wedding. It turned out even more beautiful than I could have imagined! My husband and I felt like royalty sitting under that beautiful little hut on our day- it was a fairytale!

Use your own ideas and creativity. I was really nervous about doing a lot of things ourselves but it made everything so much more special and fun.
