Real Wedding-Caitlin & Jody

21 Sep 2015

Caitlin & Jody – Cannot Slip Free

The chicken falls in love with a buzzin’ bumble bee. Now that’s an unexpected match made in Halloween heaven.

A Happy Caitlin During Bride Prep    Jody Preps for the Ceremony

More than four years after a Halloween party brought two brilliant minded people together, Jody popped the question on Cumberland Island – an island inhabited by wild horses…and snakes. Which leads us to the big day that we were more than humbled to capture for the wonderful pair.

Meet Jody, a mix of geographically & programmatically mad genius – and Caitlin, a delightful and sweet woman whose hobbies include teaching Sunday school and has an admirable knowledge of Disney movies.

This was an incredibly gorgeous wedding that took place on Jody’s family Vineyard – The Vineyard at Thornton. The bouquets and floral decor were made up solely of gypsophila – a simplistically elegant choice.  The couple delivered their intellectual and deeply romantic, custom vows in a lovely ceremony on the vineyard. You will swoon at the vows that Jody delivers to Caitlin. Poetic, vibrant, and beautiful. He sounds like a novelist reading to his muse. And the utter bliss that exudes from her face and adorable smile as he reads them to her will melt your heart. Swooon.

Elegant and Simple Gypsophila (Baby's Breath)   The Couple's Baby Niece!

The couple wanted to give each other something before the wedding – but they wanted to do so in a way where they could interact without actually seeing each other. Caitlin wanted the first time Jody saw her to be when she was walking down the aisle – no exceptions. She wanted it to be the most special it could be. So, we brainstormed and came up with the idea of a door divider. Caitlin hid behind a half opened door, and we directed Jody to come in only so far so that their hands could touch and they could exchange their cards. It made for a beautiful shot and only exemplified the anticipation of saying “I do.” It is honestly one of the sweetest things that I have ever witnessed.

And wait until you see the shot of their first kiss. Stunning.Caitlin & Jody found us through their sister and brother-in-law. They had attended a wedding that we filmed a while back – Lauren & Kristian’s. They loved how we embody the day for both the bride & groom. We were totally flattered and ecstatic to capture their wedding, too! Their story is definitely worth a listen.

Colorful Teal and Orange Nigerian Fusion Wedding in Baltimore, Maryland

Colorful Teal and Orange Nigerian Fusion Wedding in Baltimore, Maryland

Charlotte Young and Olusola Fadare’s wedding was a chic and heartwarming celebration of culture and love.  Charlotte’s stunning face, and timeless natural updo were complimented beautifully by her gorgeous crystal statement earrings. Olusola looked like prince charming in his perfectly tailored tuxedo, which he accessorized with charming personalized black cuff-links that read, “I Do.”  This stylish couple fused Charlotte’s African American heritage with Olusola’s Nigerian culture throughout their ceremony and reception. In tribute to the groom’s Yoruba Nigerian roots, their bridesmaids wore Ankara fabric print dresses and danced the night away to Nigerian music; to celebrate the bride’s Southern roots, the couple jumped the broom and soul food was served during the reception. Paosin Photography took the most lovely pictures of this gorgeous fusion wedding.

Wedding Theme
We were inspired by our desire to infuse African American culture with Nigerian style and tradition. We wanted to use bright bold colors and so chose teal and orange.
Wedding Style
My wedding dress was a fit and flare gown from Allure that I paired with a Maggie Sottero diamond belt and a lace veil from Etsy. I loved all of my accessories, but my favorite were my wing tip earrings from Nordstrom.
Incorporation of Culture
We did our best to mix both my SC and his Yoruba Nigerian roots: My bridesmaids wore Ankara fabric print dresses and the groomsmen wore matching Ankara bow ties. We jumped the broom, had both Soul Food and Nigerian food and played both styles of music.
Most Memorable Moment
There were so many great memories, my fave was after we said I do and jumped the broom, we danced down the aisle to “I Love My Life” by Demarco.
Wedding Advice
Don’t be afraid to stand up for your wedding vision, everyone will offer their input but it is your wedding and at the end of the day you want to be happy with what you see.

Purple, Teal & Peacock Accent Theme Wedding - The Hotel at Arundel Preserve

Here is another recent wedding with fun colors and peacock accents throughout the wedding.

I had an AWESOME time working with this couple throughout the planning process. On the wedding day our team had a ball. Usually we don't need four team members for a wedding but with all the details and logistics that this wedding entailed it was key. Timing is everything and we did not want to miss a beat!

The Bride and Groom are both creative and handmade many items for the wedding: their invitations, monogram, menu cards, down to the homemade wine jelly favors. I shared tips and ideas with them to guide them on their wedding details. Regardless of the budget, your personal DIY touch is always great.

- Three different centerpieces for the guest tables
- The LED photo booth was an absolute hit and kept going all night!
- The hilarious shoe game played by the Bride and Groom has guests in stitches with laughter!

The pictures below are not the professional pictures, however we wanted to share these pictures that my inspire you.

 - Custom aisle runner was ordered using the monogram that the Groom designed
-  A quartet played for the prelude and selected parts of the ceremony
- Guests enjoyed live music during the cocktail hour as they sipped on the signature drink accented with an edible peacock feather

If you learn anything about Prestigious Occasions....Every Wedding is NOT the same and should be personalized.

We worked with an awesome team of vendors to create a memorable wedding for this couple. White dance floor, Stage, Drapes, Linen, Chairs, Sweetheart Table Chairs, Flowers, etc..Please note everything for this wedding was brought in to the hotel...except for the tables. We offer planning and/or design services please feel free to contact us.

Below is a picture of the room revealed to the couple before guests entered. The emotional response from the Bride once the doors opened was absolutely amazing! She cried and there was no way I could hold back my tears...we just cried and hugged together for a few minutes. The short video clip was awesome and captured our raw emotions.

They check out the tables and all the little details that we planned out together.

As a planner it is easy for me to visualize the reception space and details because this is what we do weekly. However for the couple this was a priceless moment as they looked at every detail we worked on for months come together in one space.
